Here’s a beginner-friendly guide to get your WordPress site up and running:

What You Need to Know First

Softaculous is an auto-installer tool that makes installing WordPress (and other apps) super easy – no manual file uploads or database configurations needed. It comes pre-installed with most hosting accounts.

Installation Steps

  1. Log into your Control Panel using the information provided in your Welcome Letter.
  2. Find Softaculous: Scroll down to the “Software” or “Softaculous Apps Installer” section. Click on the WordPress icon, or search for WordPress in the search bar.
  3. Start the Installation: Click the “Install Now” button (usually a blue button at the top).
  4. Configure Your Installation – Fill out these important fields:
    1. Choose Protocol: Select https:// if you have an SSL certificate (recommended), otherwise http://
    2. Choose Domain: Select which domain to install WordPress on
    3. In Directory: Leave blank to install in your main domain root (yourdomain.com), or type a folder name like “blog” (yourdomain.com/blog)
  5. Site Settings
    1. Site Name: Your website’s title (you can change this later)
    2. Site Description: A brief tagline (also changeable later)
    3. Admin Username: Choose a username (avoid “admin” for security)
    4. Admin Password: Create a strong password
    5. Admin Email: Your email address for notifications
  6. Advanced Options (Optional)
    1. Most beginners can leave these as default, but you can select a theme or install plugins if you want.
  7. Install – Click the “Install” button at the bottom. The installation typically takes 1-2 minutes.
  8. Success! You’ll see a success message with your site URL and admin login URL (usually yourdomain.com/wp-admin). Save these details!
